6.2.1 What is recycling

"Recycling" means the process of separating a given waste material from the waste stream and processing it so that it may be used again as a raw material for a product, which may or may not be similar to the original product1.

Reuse is the return of a commodity into the economic stream for use in the same kind of application as before without change in its identity2.
It should be emphasized that only the resources which retain their basic physical and chemical properties during use and under the proper conditions can be recycled or reused.
